Post-Prison
Michigan has lifetime GPS for certain categories of sexually based offenses with no review process to get off monitoring. Those on lifetime GPS must pay a monthly fee. Failure to pay that fee is a felony punishable by up to two years in prison and a fine of up to $2,000.
Post-Prison/New Technologies
In 2020 the Michigan Department of Corrections upgraded their nearly 4,000 monitors from 3G to 4G at a cost of $4.6 million to taxpayers.
