A movement activist for 55 years, Alfredo (he/him/his) has been involved in many movements. His first work was with the Puerto Rican Independence Movement. Among lots of other things, he was the lead organizer of the historic 1974 rally for Puerto Rican Independence at Madison Square Garden. He’s been involved in a wide range of community, regional, and national struggles. He was a founder of the May First Movement Technology, a founder of the Radical Elders Organization, and one of the organizers of the U.S. Social Forum. He’s been a journalist, taught at many colleges throughout the New York area, authored seven books, has tried hard to be a good father and grandfather, and learns something new every day.
