As many organizations move towards 32-hour workweeks, MediaJustice’s Director of Operations Shubha Balabaer, along with independent consultant Kaytee Ray-Riek, wanted to learn more about the nuances of implementing 32-hour work weeks in the social justice context.

In the Spring of 2023, 19 organizations responded to a survey – 16 who currently have a 32-hour workweek and 3 who did not continue – sharing their lessons on implementation, benefits, and the challenges they face in implementing a 32-hour workweek.

“Our goal with this project is to explore what it takes to equitably implement a 32 hour workweek – something many organizations are considering adopting as a way to find balance. We believe that it is possible for organizations to work fervently towards their missions alongside a 32 hour workweek. This report offers some insights and thoughts for how that might look.”
