“Healthy Hoods” champion and CCHE grantee Committee Against Anti-Asian Violence (CAAAV) has a strong history of organizing for justice in New York City. Through projects like the Chinatown Tenants Union, CAAV is on the front lines, fighting to preserve Chinatown, NYC as an affordable, flourishing, and green neighborhood and community for working-class Asian immigrants and their families. CAAAV works to build grassroots community power across diverse poor and working class Asian immigrant and refugee communities in New York City. Through an organizing model constituted by five core elements- basebuilding, leadership development, campaigns, alliances, and organizational development- CAAAV organizes communities to fight for institutional change and participates in a broader movement towards racial, gender, and economic justice.
