MediaJustice

largeWe are on the verge of an amazing victory. This Thursday, October 22, the Federal Communications Commission will vote for the comprehensive reform of a broken prison and jail telephone industry. The FCC is voting to cap the rates for all calls from prison, jails and detention centers; ban most fees; and pave the way for additional reforms. This is a step that will improve the lives of the 2.4 million people who are incarcerated in the United States, and their families.

Here are three ways you can get involved:

  1. Watch the vote Thursday at 10:30 am ET and post your thoughts on social media using the hashtag #PhoneJustice. Follow us twitter @MediaAction and @MediaJustice watch the vote here.
  2. If you’re in the Washington, D.C., area, join us for a press conference at 9:30 am Thursday at the FCC to hear from community members directly impacted by this historic vote and for legal analysis of the proposed rules.
  3. Donate $20 to support the delegation of courageous families who are traveling to D.C. to tell their stories
