Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Beale Infrastructure are proposing to build a massive data center project almost the size of downtown Tucson, near the Pima County Fairgrounds, called Project Blue. This data center campus, like other facilities serving Amazon and Big Tech companies across the country, may consume an unsustainable amount of energy while providing very few jobs. In other parts of the country, these projects have raised electricity rates for households, threatening both local water supplies and overall grid reliability.
