Shilo is a passionate people and culture leader who builds and implements Media Justice’s human resources strategies and practices. She brings over 15 years of service-based administrative and management experience across multiple sectors and holds an aPHR certification.
Shilo graduated from California College of the Arts, Oakland California, with a fine art photography degree, and her passion for creating art can be found woven through the radical approaches she takes to non-profit operations. Allowing her artistic process to shape her HR lenses has allowed for the “space” to re-envision ways of taking care of staff that is grounded in practices that are values-driven and de-centering of capitalism. When she is not focused on her mission at Media Justice, Shilo is a member of the cimotA Art Collective, working in post-apocalyptic sculptural, installation, and costume work. She has previously served on the board of LVA: Lesbians in the Visual Arts and was a Project Photographer for the Bay Area Women of Color Photo Project. Her art has been shown at many exhibitions across the US and internationally and has been included in The Kinsey Institute Gallery’s permanent collection as well as several international print publications.
