This summer, reporting from The Intercept and Wired indicated that the U.S. government is now tracking people who fight data centers as part of a new, broad designation called “anti-tech violent extremists.” This designation places individuals fighting tech infrastructure under the thumb of state surveillance, a clear escalation of Big Tech’s tactics to secure their power in the face of grassroots resistance.
