On September 22, the Media Action Grassroots Network (MAG-Net) and Champaign Urbana Citizens for Peace and Justice hosted the Media Justice Salon, SHOT ON CAMERA: Documenting the Police. We see the tensions between cameras pointed at the police and those pointing at the public and are facing the implications these situations have on free speech, community organizing, and our community safety. As community organizers and policy advocates, we have to ask ourselves, who has the right to record? 
Our September Media Justice Salon explored the use of cameras by law enforcement and organizers as a tool to document the interactions of police with community members.
Together, we learned how video is changing the way we organize, the way we are policed, and the way our stories are being heard on corporate-owned social media platforms like Facebook.
