MediaJustice just reached the halfway point of our bi-weekly political education series WTF: The Rise of the Broligarchy, where we’ve been tracking the actions of the tech billionaires and the implications of their agenda over Trump’s first 100 Days in office. Through the series we’ve amassed over a thousand viewers who are interested in fighting back against Big Tech and State collusion.

At the start of the series, we identified 14 Big Tech billionaires – or broligarchs – many of them front row at Trump’s inauguration. We defined oligarchs as individuals who wield their wealth for political power. Their primary motivation is to protect and expand their wealth. Their names range from well-known billionaires like Jeff Bezos and Mark Zuckerberg, to lesser known people like Peter Thiel, whose company Palantir has multi-million dollar contracts with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Trump’s appointed AI and Crypto czar David Sacks, who has been given power to advise policy without approval from the Senate, is similar to another tech broligarch, Elon Musk, in his role with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). In pulling back the curtain, we realized what we’re seeing isn’t just regular wealth inequality – this is a massive takeover of politics, our digital infrastructure, and our economy.

Since the start of the series we’ve covered topics ranging from the Tiktok Ban with journalist Sameer Rao, to the gutting of the federal workforce in a conversation with Erie Meyer, former staff member at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. We’ve been connecting the dots on how the mass criminalization is bolstering the tech weapons of police agencies, allowing them to target anyone who dissents against the Trump administration, speaks up about the genocide in Palestine, or even campaigns against Tesla. We also interviewed leaders in the field of immigration rights, such as Paromita Shah from Just Futures Law, Nana Gyamfi from Black Alliance for Just Immigration, and Cinthya Rodriguez from Mijente. All of the speakers illustrated to us the harms of the current moment and the people power necessary to change our conditions right now.

We invite you to check out our video playlist and accompanying viewing guides below to learn more about the tech broligarchy and ways our communities are fighting back:
