For over twenty years, she has harnessed cutting-edge legal and advocacy strategies to combat mass deportation, criminalization, and surveillance in deep relationship with movement partners. In 2019, she co-founded the movement lawyering organization, Just Futures Law (JFL), answering a call from grassroots immigrant rights’ organizers. JFL provides innovative litigation and legal policy support for grassroots organized advocacy campaigns, with a strong focus on surveillance and data technologies.

Over the years, Paromita has spearheaded advocacy, educational programs, and trainings with national reach and impact. She also has provided direct legal assistance to hundreds in immigration detention and trained and mentored hundreds of volunteer attorneys. Paromita regularly provides expertise to journalists, academics, and advocates. She has also authored dozens of resources and reports, including co-authoring “Who’s Behind ICE: The Tech and Data Companies Fueling Deportations” (2018) and “HART Attack: How DHS’ Massive Biometrics Database Will Supercharge Surveillance and Threaten Rights” (2022). She is a 2023 Rockwood National LIO Yearlong Fellow and recipient of the 2020 Outstanding Clinical Alumni Award from Suffolk University Law School. She previously served as the Associate Director of the National Project of the National Lawyers Guild, the Detention Project Director at Capital Area Immigrants’ Rights Coalition in Washington DC, and was a staff attorney at Greater Boston Legal Services.
