MediaJustice is proud to announce that Vivek Bharathan is joining the organization as Data Center Fellow.
Bharathan hails from Tucson, where his work with No Desert Data Center has been crucial to stopping the development of the massive, water-hungry Amazon data center known as Project Blue. Aside from organizing locals and connecting with community groups, he developed digital assets, produced essential messaging, and became a public spokesperson for the group. A technologist by trade, Bharathan has also worked as a software engineer, web developer, and information technology manager.
At MediaJustice, Bharathan will work strategically across MediaJustice’s programs to develop political education materials, generate engaging multimedia projects, and build a national effort to challenge corporate control of digital infrastructure.
MediaJustice collaborated closely with Bharathan and No Desert Data Center as part of its mission to amplify community-led groups that wrestle with Big Tech. His hire is pivotal to the organization’s commitment to foster and maintain deep relationships with frontline organizers fighting data center expansion across the United States.
“I’m constantly awed and humbled by the work that members of the No Desert Data Center Coalition do every day, and I’m excited to take what I learned to MediaJustice as we continue our struggle against resource-extractive corporations with no stake in our communities,” Bharathan said.
Bharathan will continue to support the work in Arizona and while helping interface with local efforts to fight Big Tech around the country.
“As MediaJustice emerges to lead a national movement to combat data centers, Vivek’s tenure will help us build the community power we need to fight back and secure the tech future we all deserve,” said MediaJustice Executive Director Steven Renderos
Bharathan begins on September 15, 2025.
